Week 3 ~ 17/02/20 – 23/02/20

Week 3 was a bit of a slow week. The general atmosphere feels at the moment like we’re struggling to get decisions made because we’re worried about making decisions without certain members of the group present for meetings. None-the-less we must press on.

During this week’s conference call we discussed the absent members and how the project will run if we continue without them here. We decided to give it some extra time before making any final decisions. We discussed the possibilities of doing multiple levels vs a single house, the consensus seemed to me to be that we would be doing a single house (this was not the case I later found out so we were left without a final decision).

We discussed the music for the game and sent Alvin a list of music and sound effects that we’d like to have for the game.

We also discussed the style of the pixel NPC’s that we should be using and discussed creating our own style. I sourced a picture of a pixel NPC whose style we all seemed to like to use as inspiration:

I then used a 3d model doll software to pose a female in a walking animation and then used that as a reference to create a base for Dom to draw the NPC’s and PC’s:

This should hopefully be able to create a smooth animation for the game and help dom as he has been struggling a bit with drawing anatomy in a pixel style.

We discussed that I would also forgo creating any more concept designs and move straight over to creating sprite sheets as it’s a more efficient use of our short amount of time.

We created the Itch.IO page this week under a fresh account called La Squadra. And I wrote out a brief description for it:

I added more to the GDD from what our current ideas are and this is how it looks now, the burgundy squares are to be filled with pictures :

Nick gave us the backing layout for the house during class but unfortunately, it wasn’t in the perspective that we needed and so we discussed that although it would be fine to use, for now, that eventually, it would need to be remade.
